Kenyan Woman With Beard and Chest Hair Narrates Hubby's Reaction After Seeing Them

A woman from Kenya who has a beard and lots of hair on her chest talked about facing stigma and discrimination when she was younger.

During a live session on TikTok on April 16, Wanggy Ivvah91 shared that she started growing facial hair when she was 13 years old. This condition, called hirsutism, is rare and causes excessive facial hair in females. It's usually because of extra hormones called androgens.

Wanggy said people treated her badly while she was growing up. They called her names and made her feel like she didn't belong. Some even said mean things about her family, like her mom being a witch and her being cursed. They also said she would never have kids and that any man she was with would die.

But now, Wanggy is married and has kids. She's standing up against the stigma around women with hirsutism and wants to clear up myths about the condition. She says women with hirsutism can still have babies, just like any other woman.

Wanggy used to shave her beard because she felt ashamed of her condition. But her husband understands and supports her. She said most of her past boyfriends didn't know about her hirsutism until recently when she talked about it openly.

When asked how her husband reacted when he found out, she said he was surprised but didn't reject her.

Wanggy wants women with facial hair like hers to love themselves and accept who they are.
