Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen ordered all police officers to make sure people follow traffic rules on Thursday, April 18.
This came after President William Ruto told him to reduce accidents on Kenyan roads or face consequences for his job.
"Following the President's orders, all police officers must enforce the law, no matter which department they work for," Murkomen said.
Murkomen gave this order after he saw a Bodaboda rider carrying four passengers, which made him upset.
He promised to work hard to make sure Kenyan roads are safe and that the number of accidents goes down.
President Ruto had warned Murkomen during the official launch of the National Road Safety Action Plan that he needed to bring down the accidents.
The President wondered why accidents keep happening even though there are ways to reduce them.
"You need to show us that the numbers are going down, or you'll be in trouble," President Ruto told Murkomen.
