A video has surfaced showing the late Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla talking about his decision to resign from the military at one point.
The video was recorded at the funeral service of General Nick Leshan, who passed away in 2021. In the video, General Ogolla spoke about how General Leshan recognized his talent and potential long before he became a top military leader.
He mentioned that in 1998, he had decided to resign from the military, but General Leshan convinced him to stay during a three-hour conversation. Ogolla recalled General Leshan's words, encouraging him to pursue his potential in the military.
Twenty years later, Ogolla found himself fulfilling General Leshan's vision when he was promoted to Airforce commander. He expressed gratitude to General Leshan for his guidance and wisdom during their meeting in Narok.
General Francis Ogolla tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on April 18, 2024, in Kaben, Elgeyo Marakwet county. He was accompanied by nine other military officials, who also lost their lives in the crash. Two occupants survived the accident.
