New Twist in Rita Waeni Murder Case as Fresh Details Emerge

 The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is asking for help to catch the main suspect in the murder of Rita Waeni, which happened in January 2024.The detectives say the main suspect is a man seen in CCTV footage, but he's still not caught.

The DCI shared a picture of the suspect taken by a CCTV camera when he was with Waeni.The man wore a white cap and sunglasses, maybe to hide from the cameras.

"To quickly solve the case and bring justice for Rita Waeni and her family, the Homicide Directorate asks anyone who knows the man in the picture (though it's not clear) to come forward and share any information that could help catch him," the DCI said.

The DCI also said the suspect seems to be smart because he avoided being seen by cameras.The investigation showed that the suspect went to many hotels in Nairobi West and stayed in a short-term apartment along Roysambu TRM Drive in October and November 2023.

He speaks fluent Kiswahili and English and knows Nairobi well.The DCI said they've questioned some people and collected digital data to strengthen the case.

In January, two suspects were taken to court at the Makadara Law Courts.The DCI said these two suspects lived near where Waeni's body was found.
