Former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Omondi Ogolla was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Ng’iya, Siaya County. The funeral, held on Sunday, April 21, was attended by dignitaries including President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Video footage shared online depicted the procession of Ogolla's casket in a hearse arriving at the burial site within his property. His residence, an impressive structure with immaculate white exteriors, stood out prominently. The main dwelling, featuring a dark asphalt shingle roof, contrasted with smaller adjacent buildings boasting white exteriors and green roofs. Well-constructed pathways led from the concrete parking area to the compound's exterior.
Surrounded by tall trees, Ogolla’s homestead enjoyed a serene ambiance, with verdant lawns, floral arrangements, and papaya trees dotting the landscape.
Ogolla tragically lost his life in an aircraft crash in Kaben, Elgeyo Marakwet county. The incident occurred on Thursday, April 18, when the helicopter crashed and burst into flames. President William Ruto confirmed the deaths of 10 KDF officers, with only two survivors.
