Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has advised Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja to stop blaming others and focus on serving the people of the city, or step down from his position.
In a message shared on his social media account, Kabogo reminded Sakaja that he was elected by the people of Nairobi, not by Raila Odinga or anyone else.
"Stop blaming others and start working, or leave your position. You were elected by the people of Nairobi, not by Raila Odinga or anyone else," Kabogo stated.
Kabogo's comments came after Sakaja suggested in an interview with the Daily Nation that he was facing opposition because of his support for Raila Odinga. Sakaja claimed that those accusing him of corruption had no evidence and were targeting him because of his political affiliations.
However, Kabogo disagreed with Sakaja's stance, urging him to focus on his duties as governor rather than getting involved in political disputes.
The alleged conflicts between Sakaja and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua surfaced after Sakaja expressed interest in leading the UDA party in Nairobi. Despite rumors of tensions, Sakaja denied any conflicts with the deputy president and clarified that he was not interested in the deputy president's position.
The rumors intensified when it was revealed that the deputy president was backing Embakasi North MP James Gakuya for the position of Nairobi's UDA chairman. Both Sakaja and Gakuya had expressed their interest in the role, leading to speculation about internal conflicts within the party.
