Nyamira General Hospital where the family was admitted |
A sad incident has struck Ekerenyo village, where a family of six lost their youngest child. The family ate poisonous cassava during lunch, which made them sick with stomachaches, diarrhea, and vomiting.
Neighbors rushed to help and took them to Ekerenyo Hospital for first aid. Later, they were transferred to Nyamira General Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, 6-year-old Shadrack Misigisi passed away.
One child is still in critical condition, but the parents and another son have been treated and released from the hospital. Authorities are investigating the incident and have collected both the cooked cassava eaten by the family and the remaining uncooked pieces.
