KDF Responds After Soldier Enters Police Station, Beats Everyone and Frees Prisoner

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) issued a statement on Saturday, April 27, after incidents involving clashes between KDF soldiers and police officers.

Two separate events occurred in the coastal region, where KDF officers attacked police officers in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties.

In one incident, a military officer went to a police station, attacked police officers, and released a prisoner. In another, KDF soldiers were filmed assaulting police officers and security guards.

KDF stated, "This evening at the Likoni Ferry, KDF soldiers were involved in a scuffle that has been circulated through various social media mediums." They also mentioned that Military Police and investigation agencies are looking into the incidents.

KDF expressed regret over the events and stressed their commitment to professionalism.

At Likoni Ferry, five servicemen were seen attacking police and security officers stationed there.

In Kilifi County's Rabai Sub-county, police officers arrested a suspect for assault. A KDF officer, who is the suspect's cousin, demanded the release of the suspect. He assaulted a police officer, damaged property, and helped the suspect escape.

The complainant of the assault case was also attacked. The KDF officer has been arrested and will be handed over to the military police.
