The President emphasized that this is a significant opportunity for digital content creators. He mentioned that the specific criteria for eligibility will be made public soon.
Ruto highlighted that this development aligns with the government's economic agenda, which aims to provide opportunities for all Kenyans to earn income and improve their lives.
He expressed gratitude to Facebook for collaborating on this endeavor and mentioned that by June, all Kenyan creators will have the chance to monetize their content by placing advertisements.
During the meeting, Ruto encouraged Meta to expedite the rollout process if possible, which would be a pleasant surprise for many digital creators.
President Ruto sees the digital space as a crucial avenue for creating job opportunities for the country's unemployed youth. He previously mentioned distributing 20,000 computers to create digital job opportunities for 120,000 young people in Kenya. Additionally, the government is considering sending more youths to work abroad to address unemployment.
