Situation in Various Estates in Nairobi After Heavy Downpour [PHOTOS]

Heavy rain caused trees to fall on Moi Avenue in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD), disrupting traffic flow. The incident happened near Imenti House on Wednesday morning, April 23. Both lanes of the avenue were blocked, forcing vehicles to find other routes into the CBD.

Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) that usually use Moi Avenue to leave the CBD and go to Westlands had to use Tom Mboya Street instead. Motorists planning to use Moi Avenue were advised to take different streets.

Pedestrians couldn't use the walkways in the Luthuli area either. As of now, the county government hasn't sent officers to cut the trees and clear the road.

In other parts of Nairobi, like Kahawa Sukari near Thika Road, flooding occurred on Tuesday evening after two hours of rain. Thika Road near KU at Engen Kahawa Sukari became impassable, causing heavy traffic.

The Kenya Meteorological Department warned of more heavy rain and thunderstorms in Nairobi and other areas for the next seven days. They advised people to stay away from trees and metal structures during the rain to avoid lightning strikes. Strong winds could also damage roofs, trees, and billboards, and there's a risk of landslides on steep slopes with saturated soil.
