MORNING UPDATES: Easy Coach Bus Ferrying Chavakali Boys Students to Nairobi Crashes in Kisumu

 An Easy Coach bus ferrying students from Chavakali Boys High School to Nairobi has been involved in an accident along the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway.

The Monday, April 1, evening accident happened next to the Coptic Church roundabout near Mamboleo in Kisumu. A student at the scene said they had closed school and had boarded the bus from school heading to Nairobi.

Videos from the scene show a crowd milling around as they try to pull the students from the overturned bus. Residents at the scene have expressed fears that some of the students may be dead but are hoping for the best outcome as they continue with rescue operations. There is also growing fear that the vehicle might catch fire as it continues to leak fuel while the locals try to retrieve the learners.

The accident comes a few days after a wave of sorrow swept through the Kenyatta University community following a tragic accident that left 11 students dead and several others injured along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway. The incident occurred on Monday evening, March 18, in the Maungu area in Voi when a trailer hit their bus on the left side.
