Residents in Kitengela, Kajiado County, were left in dismay after a 59-year-old man tragically took the life of his stepdaughter through stabbing before ending his own life on Sunday night, May 5. The incident is believed to have stemmed from marital issues between the man and his estranged wife.
According to reports, the man attacked the 16-year-old girl with a kitchen knife as she entered the house to retrieve a phone. The violent act attracted the attention of neighbors, but unfortunately, they were unable to intervene in time to save the girl.
Witnesses reported hearing a brief commotion followed by distress screams from the house, prompting them to alert the police. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the lifeless bodies of the man and the girl, along with the murder weapon.
A suicide note left behind by the man shed light on the motive behind the tragic incident, revealing his intention to "punish" his estranged wife for leaving him. The note accused the wife of infidelity and expressed the man's desire to exact revenge, causing her anguish over the death of their daughter.
It is loosely translated to "I told you that you are playing with someone you don't know much about. This is the outcome you wanted from me, I am the one you disrespected but now I am going to rest. You are left with wounds for life, this is the outcome of my life for the years you made me lose."
After examining the scene, police noted multiple stab wounds on the girl's body, including her back, abdomen, left breast, and head, along with defensive injuries on her left arm. The man also had stab wounds on his abdomen.
