UDA Politicians Involved in Physical Altercation Over Leadership Changes In Baringo County Assembly

Baringo County Assembly Members (MCAs) got into a fight with the Assembly Speaker on Tuesday, April 2, over changes in leadership. Assembly Speaker Vincent Kemboi said some leaders tried to grab documents while he was announcing the new leaders.

He said members from different groups rushed at him during the announcement. The Speaker asked the UDA Party to solve its problems because they sent conflicting messages about leadership changes to the Assembly.

He explained that one group said Kennedy Kiprono would be the Majority leader, while another said it would be Lawi Kipchumba Talum. The Speaker also received an email saying there were no changes in the leadership of the Majority party in Baringo County Assembly.

He said the MCAs involved in the fight will face disciplinary action through the Powers and Privileges Committee of the Baringo County Assembly.

In a similar incident in February, Laikipia County Assembly MCAs were involved in a physical fight after opposing camps disagreed on the Outsting of Minority leader Sammy Lekopien Parletto.

The MCAs supporting the Minority leader argued that the notice was read without prior communication.
